2019: Year of World Paleontology Celebrations
The year 2019 is a special year to spread the message of Paleontology's greatness with even more vigor as it accumulates extremely significant birthdays for all paleontologists:
- The 210 years of birth of Charles Robert Darwin (Shrewsbury, February 12, 1809 - Kent, April 19, 1882) and the 160 years of publication of his best-known work and Influential: The Origin of Species (November 24, 1859);
- Diana Mussa (Campos dos Goytacazes, January 19, 1932 - Rio de Janeiro, May 8, 2007) and the 45th anniversary of Paleopinuxylon josuei, first and only fossil species from Uberlândia;
- Maria Martha Barbosa (Ribeirão Preto, January 29, 1931 - Rio de Janeiro, November 29, 2020) and the 60th anniversary of the Brazilian Congress of Paleontology.
